WHAT MAKES LIGHT BEAUTIFUL
That’s the question founder Illya set out to answer in 2020, after his wife challenged him to explain what truly makes lighting flattering. Instead of guessing, he ran hundreds of real-world tests — photographing controlled setups with every diffusion, modifier, and reflector he could find.
He anonymized the results and asked top cinematographers and gaffers to pick their favorites. Winners would face winners, until there was just one style of light left.
That experiment became Betty Luminous
Designed in part by aerospace engineers building custom solutions for NASA, each reflector is hand made in Portland, Oregon. The Betty reflectors are designed for working filmmakers who want flattering, efficient, and reliable lighting tools that hold up under pressure.

OUR TECHNOLOGY
The Betty Luminous Reflector uses a unique micro-polymer surface to deliver Fresnel-like directionality with a gentle Gaussian fall-off, creating a soft, yet directional, sculpted light that looks incredible on all the many colors of skin.
Each reflector features dual-sided coatings with a magnet-based mounting system that makes setup fast, intuitive, and rock solid. They're modular with the ability to link multiple panels together into larger sources, swap orientations on the fly, and rig them anywhere, including by yokes or to standard speed rail.
